£10m payout over Owen from FIFA and the FA over his injury sustained
Newcastle United has received a compensation from FIFA and the FA as an obligation to pay Owen’s wages during the whole of his recuperation.
I think this could be the only good thing that Freddy Shepherd has ever done for Newcastle United.
A club source, quoted in the Chronicle, said that Newcastle have finally reached a comprise with FIFA and the FA regarding Michael Owen, and the fact that his wages have been paid in full by the club for two years.
Owen was out of the game for almost a year after suffering knee ligament damage in England’s final group game against Sweden, and only returned on May 1st this year in the Premiership match against Reading. While since his return, Owen has been a subject of UK Press speculation that he will leave Newcastle.
