The situation surrounding Michael Owen’s contract clause with Newcastle is making me and all Toon fans worried. Owen has a clause subject on his contract that allowing him to leave if Newcastle United failed to get back to European Club championships.

Even Sam Allardyce has said that he can do nothing if Owen has finally made up his mind to move away from St James’s Park at anytime.

Below is what former Newcastle United's deadly striking force has said about Michael Owen.

Sir Les Ferdinand:

"The one thing Newcastle supporters have been dreaming of is watching a fit Michael Owen playing for the team. They are understandably worried because everyone has heard how he might exercise a clause in his contract and move.
The one thing Newcastle fans want from their stars is loyalty.
Most of us outsiders will feel that Michael owes them at least another season. I would tell him to think carefully, because there is no other club in the country with the supporters like Newcastle United.
Show them loyalty and they'll get behind you 100 per cent."

Alan Shearer:

"Yes. He wants to get back playing and scoring goals for Newcastle. Michael is probably slightly frustrated because he has a contract with Newcastle and he feels if every time he has to come out and say something about speculation, he would be in the newspapers every day trying to deny things.

It's a different story if Manchester United are linked with Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov and Liverpool are linked with players - and you don't see those players coming out and saying, ’yes, that's true’ or, ’that's not true’."
