An Award For A Geordie Knight

Sir Robert William Robson CBE received the Lifetime Achievement Award at Sunday’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year show. The Geordie legend receive the award as a recognition for his contribution as both player and manager in a career spanning more than half a century.

Born 18 February 1933, in Sacriston, County Durham, England, he is commonly known as Bobby Robson, His professional playing career spanned nearly 20 years during which he played for just three clubs, Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Vancouver Royals, as an inside-forward. Sir Bobby made 20 appearances for England and scoring four goals.

“Nobody wins anything on their own.” Robson added, “This award really is an extension and opportunity for me to say thank you very much to everybody that has supported me.”

Lifetime Achievement Award from the BBC Sports Personality of the Year is one of the biggest honours in British sport. Although having fight against his cancer and operation on a brain tumour, the footballing legend insists that last night’s award does not mark the end of his involvement with the sport.

Well, congratulations me Geordie boy, too bad you have to be more involved with other team and part of another country’s football association. Newcastle United was surely need someone with the highest dedication and interests in footbal like you.
