Being a Geordie, what else you would expecting to do beside playing for the home town football team. Andy Carroll is no different.

He is insists to stay at Newcastle United and willing to fight for a first-team place after returning from his loan spell at Preston. I can see that he will get it more often not very long time again after making his part at Stoke City last Sunday for United’s first team FA Cup Third Round clash.

Gateshead-born striker could’ve been the Geordies’ hero and have his precious birthday present when he saw a 90th minute strike brush the Potters post. Carroll did made another return and was included as a starter for reserve team action on Tuesday night.

“After being at Preston I just want to play,” he said at the official site, “I feel I can do it so why not give it a go? I’m delighted to be back at Newcastle United.”

Andrew Thomas Carroll born January 6, 1989. He gets first-team debut in a UEFA Cup tie against Palermo on November 2, 2006, as a late substitute and became the youngest ever player to represent Newcastle in Europe at the age of 17 years and 300 days.

In the FA Cup, last Sunday was actually his second appearance for Newcastle after the first one come in as substitute for the last 10 minutes in the home defeat to Birmingham City last year.

His goal against Juventus on United friendly match last summer has been rewarded highly from Bianconerri goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Juve’ number one goalkeeper believes United young striker’s awareness and ability to bring other players into play will make him a real asset for Newcastle.

“Carroll played like what we call in Italy a paintbrush striker,” Buffon said in the Daily Express on that day, “He was there to add the finishing touch. He played well on his own.”

“He will be an asset because he can find the smaller players around him in different ways and has already shown he has great awareness.”
