The image below was not nice and clear anymore, but what’s inside it will always stay the same for almost ten years. Bringing the Pride Back Home was Newcastle United 1998 Official FA Cup song, when United’s team under Kenny Dalglish made it to the final.
You’ll never understand us if you thought that we’d give up
‘Cos it’s more than just a game, and it’s more than just a cup
‘Cos we’re marching the length of England and I wouldn’t tell no lie
I’ll wear this black and white jersey till the day I die
Tomorrow the Black-and-White Toon Army will not marching the length of England, only half way to it as Newcastle United will play the West Midlands team Stoke City, but the pride is always the same because it’s more than just a game and more than just a cup.
Newcastle may have been through three Premier League defeats before tomorrow’s clash with Stoke, and they are unbeaten in the last ten Championships games, but we would never give up and United will be different team at Britannia.
Habib Beye today revealing his hunger to taste a slice of action in the FA Cup, I bet he will get it and know why. He is poised to make his debut in the FA Cup against the Potters and says he is well aware the meaning of the competition to the Geordies.
Beye’s cup experience will be his last game for Newcastle this month as he will link up with the Lions of Teranga for the African Cup of Nations after the trip to the Britannia Stadium.
With his recent performance in Toon defence, he’s a big lost to Newcastle team.
“I will leave on Monday for the African Cup of Nations but I am looking forward to playing first in the FA Cup – and that’s what I am focused on.” Beye told the Chronicle, “The FA Cup is important for the fans of course, but I am hoping to do well in this competition.”
When he was at Marseille, Beye has reached two cup finals but lost. Now with Newcastle he wants to do the same and playing well in the FA Cup to bring Newcastle back in the final at Wembley.
