The French football club Sochaux have released a statement today regarding to Newcastle United efforts to bring their Malian international striker Modibo Maiga to St. James’ Park.
They asked FIFA to help them stop us at any chance of signing Maiga. According to them, United is violating the rule from Article 18 of the current international regulations, by approaching the player without consulting his current team.
Maiga was being reported several times to be in conflict with Sochaux’s directors, who is trying to keep him in the club despite his wish to leave.
And in favour to his desire was not having any good feedback from his club directors, Maiga has boycotted Sochaux’s two Ligue 1 games at Nancy on Sunday and Caen on August 13, He also being left out of the squad for their Europa League 1st tie with Metalist Kharkiv in Ukraine on August 18.
