After one step ahead in securing the Premierships status for the upcoming season, United is now in focus aiming the summer spending.
Bournemouth striker Sam Vokes is still the number one target at the close season. The 18-year-old Vokes, who is born in Southampton, was ready to step into the line with United’s plan to sign him for £250,000 but after the club’s administrative buying-out by the club’s owners, has made the deal temporary in held.
Vokes said he’s been told by ex-United coach Kevin Bond that there are several clubs which are interested to sign him and Newcastle is leading the bid with Aston Villa keep monitoring the moves. Bournemouth currently having the difficult season and was in in the relegation zone with 10 points deducted.
“I know Newcastle have shown interest – the gaffer called me in and told me that.” Vokes said, “But I do not expect anything now until the summer, so my aim is to do my very best for Bournemouth and hope that we can get out of trouble.”
Meanwhile, Chronicle’s recent report saying United’s scouting team of Denis Wise, Tony Jimenez and Jeff Vetere have their eyes for weeks in watching the progress of St. Etienne striker Bafetimbi Gomis and Seville star Luis Fabiano.
St. Etienne wants £12m for the player who is dubbed as the new ‘Didier Drogba’ by the French journalists, but Newcastle is only willing to pay no more than £9million for the 22-years-old Gomis while Bolton, Arsenal and Rangers are also reportedly tracking Gomis.
Other possible Toon target, Brazilian bad boy Luis Fabiano has declare his desire to leave the Spanish side Seville at the end of this season. Fabiano is currently one of the Europe’s league top scorers and only second to Manchester United’s Christiano Ronaldo.
If Kevin Keegan wanted him to sign for Toon, we will have the greater chance to get him because of Jimenez’s connections in Seville. Jimenez is having big part in the recruitment process of Juande Ramos from Seville to Spurs.
