After signing as the Canaries new manager, Glenn Roeder starts his own revolution at Norwich by getting his closed people and known players from Newcastle United. Lee Clark has joined him as the assistant manager and following by the loan deal for Newcastle’s reserve Matthew Pattison.
South African lad, Pattison’s last appearance for Newcastle’s first team was on the final day of the Premiership season against Watford in May.
Matty hasn’t got the chance to play again for United’s first team under Allardyce since the former Bolton manager took charge in the same month. Pattison’s decision to move away from the North East is to play more first team football because he didn’t expect to be given his chance under Big Sam.
“It’s been frustrating, but I knew I wasn’t really going to play anyway,” said Pattison. “I just wanted to come and play some football, so it was an easy choice for me.”
Pattison’s still has a contract at Newcastle until next summer. Roeder is aware there could be the chance for him to extend the midfielder’s initial stay even into a permanent move.
“Possibly, we’ll see how it goes. It might take a lot of convincing for Matty to leave a club as big as Newcastle.” Roeder said, “He’s tough. He’s certainly got an edge to him. He’ll got out and play his football without worrying where we are in the table.”
Norwich City Football Club (also known as The Canaries) founded in 1902 last appearing in the FA Premier League in 2004–05, having first been promoted to the top flight in 1972 and have won the League Cup twice, in 1962 and 1985.
Since 1935, Norwich have played their home games at Carrow Road and have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with East Anglian neighbours Ipswich Town, with whom they have contested the East Anglian Derby 134 times, winning 51 since 1902. The fans’ song On The Ball, City is regarded as being the oldest football song in the English speaking world.
Glenn Roeder today feverishly working on bringing in two new faces ahead of next Saturday’s clash with Coventry City.
“I would be very disappointed if I don’t get at least two, and I would go for three if I can,” said Roeder, as being quoted from Norwich Evening News, “But I am in the process of talking to two clubs about two players and both clubs have been positive to let the players come and I know the players will come.”
