Sam Allardyce has telling his boys to keep full concentrate every minutes of the next Sunday’s meeting with Everton at St. James’ Park. He insists Newcastle’s team to make no mistakes against them.
Big Sam as well as the rests of the squad would love to forget the awful afternoon at CoM last week and get the grip on to the clash against Everton on Sunday. He is in particular asking one of the Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins to keep scoring goals for the club. He said that Martins is one of the most lively player on the day at CoM.
“Oba played well at Manchester City, but scoring is still the most important thing to him and I have to say he took his goal well.”
So far Martins has scored 21 goals for United in his 48 starts for Newcastle. On Sunday, He will go head-to-head with his fellow Nigerian Joseph Yobo while needing no reminding of the penalty miss against the same team at Goodison Park last season.
The team has studied the City match last week, and he will demand his players not to make the same mistakes again. But he is also worried about the fixtures after Sunday.
After entertaining Everton on Sunday, United will have a break for international matches, before playing four times before the next round of Euro 2008 qualifiers in November.
“I will worry about the international break after Sunday, but I am no different from any other Premier League manager as we all face the same problems.”
Sam is worried about the break as he may feels that the team will suffering from it.
Newcastle has a good run at the start of the Premierships and have unbeaten run in all 5 games including the Carling Cup, then comes the International break and after that the Magpies squad got the first taste of defeat of the season against the rock-bottom team Derby County.
Meanwhile, he’s also worry about Michael Owen. While the England needed him for the upcoming crucial Euro2008 qualifying match against Estonia, the same thing also worked for Newcastle United.
Owen has just doing his operation last week, and while the progress after that is impressive and he has a secret training season with fellow team-mate Damien Duff, Allardyce insists that Owen should have more time to fully recover before he can involve in more games.
Allardyce said: “I am playing around with the side, trying to get to know them, trying to find out what system is the best, who is better playing with who, and that is certainly more frustrating for some players than others.”
He is now trying to get the right formula for Newcastle united to face all the tasks for his players during the upcoming busy weeks until November, and he warned his squad is going to need to be able to accept the rotation.
“Having everybody fit is the ultimate aim for me because of what we are going to face in December and January, and we have got to be ready with a full squad for that period.”
