Alan Shearer has speak again to defend his former England team-mate Michael Owen about the recent press and some fans critism. He said that Owen is happy to play for Newcastle and he will delivering more goals for the club.
Shearer is commented on the official website about how he couldn’t understand why Owen has been critism about playing for his country. He says that there’s no such a crime for any player from any club to play for his own national team.
“He wants to play for England, and I don’t see the crime in that. I don’t understand where the criticism’s coming from.” Said Big Al.
Alan Shearer was playing for Northumberland team yesterday, and the old Toon hero scores a hat-trick again on the Princes Trust Challenge Trophy against Earl of Durham.
Alan Shearer was Michael Owen’s partner for England at the 1998 World Cup in France. Both players scores in one of the most memorable game when England played against Argentina in the second round.
Now, after Shearer has resigned from both club and National team, Michael Owen still continuing his England caps and has score 40 goals in 85 games for his country and about to score more to pass Bobby Charlton’s 49 goals record. In any competitive games, Owen is the leading goal scorers for England with 26 goals.
“He loves the area – his family’s here and his kids are at school.” Shearer added more.
About Michael’s reaction for Joey Barton’s words about club first before the national team. Shearer said that no matter what, Owen is just a human and sometimes he can’t control himself of what he said.
“I know Sam said he was fit to start the game against Everton, and Michael said he was fit to start the game. He came on and scored, and did very well.”
So, I think we have to wait until January to see the truth about Michael Owen, and imho I was hopping that Owen will stay. Shearer has given his support for Owen, and I don’t see why we are not do the same.
