Sir Bobby Believe Keegan Will Bring the Pride Back Home

Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson both having birthday this month, and while Keegan turns 57 yesterday, Sir Bobby will celebrating his 75th birthday next Monday.

Both are the most successful manager that Newcastle United had in Premierships years, and also the persons that have the highest respects from Toon supporters, both in and out the field.

“I have had a wonderful career and a wonderful life,” said Sir Bobby Robson, “I really couldn’t ask for much more. When I look back I’m very proud of what I have achieved.”

Being judged to have cancer for fifth times since 1992, Robson’s health is fragile but when asking about his thoughts on football, particularly about his beloved team Newcastle, Sir Bobby can talk for hours.

“I never thought I’d get the chance to manage my club and I loved every single day I was in that job,” he said. “It meant the world to me and I believe I did as good a job as I could.”

“I don’t have any regrets about my time there. I took the club over when they were bottom of the league and in the five years I was manager we finished in the top five three years running.” Sir Bobby added more, “Three years after I arrived we were playing in the Champions League. Nobody has got near that since I left.”

Sir Bobby also believe King Kev was the right man for Newcastle job at the moment, and the King will not let the Toon Army down.

“That is what Kevin will do. I don’t think we will go down, I can’t see us being relegated this season, so he’s just got to consolidate.”

“Look at what he’s got and then go out in the summer and get the best players he can. It’s not going to be easy because all the clubs are going for the same players, but Newcastle have got a chance.”

Kevin Keegan will needs time. Sir Bobby doesn’t see it going to happen straight away. He gives his time at Gallowgate as a good example as he tooks two seasons to get United back into Europe. Keegan will built the squad up and when the right players are available, King Kev will brought them in to replace the current squad.

“Newcastle are a bigger club than Everton, they are a bigger club than Aston Villa and even Tottenham. They are big clubs, of course they are, but Newcastle are bigger.” Said Sir Bobby, “I might be biased of course, but I firmly believe that if one team is going to shake things up it is Newcastle United.”
