Slightly better performance earn Newcastle a draw

Believe it or not, we finally can score goals when there’s no Smudge on the field. Although Keegan still insists that he will not be sold to Everton, the reason why he’s not been included in Toon match against PSV Eindhoven last night was because Smith is having a sore ankle.

“We will probably get two or three more players in and settle down with a quality squad.” Keegan added, “Alan is very popular and can play in lots of positions.” Alan is very popular?

Last night was the baptism night for Newcastle new signings Jonas Gutierrez and Danny Guthrie when both taste the St. James’s Park green grass for the first time in a real match.

Against PSV, we started with Damien Duff and James Milner in attack becasue we didn’t have any single senior strikers available.

But again, the goals for Toon is coming from our second liners. The first goal came in just three minutes after Geremi corner was headed home by Steven Taylor. And it looks like we will have a win in bigger margins after five minutes later, Milner cuts for another home debutant Danny Guthrie make it 2-0 for Newcastle.

The Dutch side minimize their goal defisit in 32 minutes when Reimond Monco redirected the ball into Shay Given’s net from a long range speculation shot by Nordin Amrabat.

In second half, Keegan handed a senior debut for Geordie’s Ryan Donaldson to replaced Geremi. Soon after that, for the last of 20 minutes, PSV tried harder to create the equalising goal. And it was finally happen when Enrique failed to deal with a ball in Toon left side. Nordin Amrabat hooked it home to make it 2-2.
