Newcastle United may have problems ahead for the Saturday’s match against Liverpool with the injury of Michael Owen, Abdoulaye Faye and Steven Taylor. But, from Toon fit players we have some high optimism for the upcoming fixtures.
James Milner told the official site that he wants to become more prolific in front of the target. Having scores 20 goals from 202 club career appearances, Milner’s equalizing goal against the macKems.was his second this season and he want to make more than what he did last season with four goals.
“Everyone wants to contribute to the team and it’s important that you don’t have just one or two players who score all of the goals,” James told nufc.co.uk, “I’d like to be one of those players and I want to score more goals.”
Fit again Mark Viduka heads into the game tomorrow hoping for a repeat of the game of his life. Mark single-handedly condemned the Reds in November 2000, when he scored all four goals for Leeds in a 4-3 win. That was the season Leeds famously reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
“I got four goals against them one year – I would love that to happen again.” Mark told the Daily Mail, “But it will be very tough. Liverpool are a world-class side – they have been European champions and runners up in the last three years.”
Alan Smith says the game against Liverpool can be used as a “benchmark” by Newcastle United, as he believes the home fixture will show how far Big Sam Allardyce’s much-changed side after the Pompey’s humiliation.
“Liverpool’s a big game for us,” Smith told the Gazette. “But we thought that ahead of the Portsmouth game and then we conceded three goals in 11 minutes, and we can’t do it again.”
The 27-year-old Newcastle’s versatile player also having great memories against Liverpool. Smith got his first goal as a kid against them but he also got his horrible injury against them.
“They have world-class players and we know that this is one of the biggest games of the season for us.” Smith added more.
