Several media having reported how disappointed wor local lad Steven Taylor about his new contract offer from Newcastle management. Taylor would love to sign new contract but will wait for the new taylored contract in the next few days.
Currently Taylor still have two years left on his old contract while he is still on reverse squad. His basic wage is less than a third of what new signing Abdoulaye Faye received. His father who also his manager is aware of how much the likes of Milner and N’Zogbia are being paid in their new contracts.
Steven Taylor started 43 games last season, and his English Premier League match appearance against Wigan Athletic last Saturday was his 90th for Newcastle United.
After successful in guarding England back four on Euro U21 contest, Steven won his first senior England squad call last month when England face Germany on a friendly match.
And when speaking about his son’s situation at the club, his father Alf told the media “He’s not playing for Newcastle for the money, but because he loves football and the club, but having said that this is a short career and the financial aspect is still important.”
“Fortunately, while he’s disappointed, Steven has never – nor ever will – let it affect his performance on the field. He’s a local lad who only wants to play for his local team.”
Good point Taylor senior, and I do hope that the management will consider his future for Newcastle United. Steven Taylor is a great asset for the team, and as far as I can remember, we are rarely to have local lad playing in defence.
