Today’s Premier League match has been the encounter of two champions from different league. Chelsea as the last season Premierships champion and Newcastle United who won the Championships league.

Sol Campbell battles for the ball with Salomon Kalou

As one of the Toon Army I hope we can win the game, and the signs for it emerged when Carroll took the advantage from the Blues poor defending, it was the moment of joy from this game and nothing is called luck there, it’s pure skill that lead to Carroll’s goal.

After that goal, we have shown to the world that this young team can compete against any team in the top flight, only a matter of time and good financial back-up from the club owner can make this team more solid.

Playing with 4-4-2 formation is a good decision from Chris Hughton, with one of our striker often playing a bit deeper to support our midfielders. Without Nolan and Barton, I give CH two thumbs up for his brave decision to play with two strikers up front against a team like Chelsea, while any other managers would have playing with 5 defensive midfielders.

The return of Steven Taylor in center to pairing with Sol Campbell has produced a nice result. We are now have the perfect back-up for Williamson-Coloccini pairs, also a good credit from me for our both wing-back for making several good penetration into the opponent side.

Are we in perfect performance today? I must say we didn’t. I noticed couple of errors from the lads, and thank God, the Blues are also far from a better team against us today.

Ameobi should have more better understanding with Carroll, both our front men have some moments of where they are too often being in the same side or battle for the same ball. We can increase our lead in the first half instead of being levelled if Ameobi can be more creative in front of the goal.

Danny Guthrie also showing good, although still needs more game before he can reach his peak again. Gutierrez is a little bit lazy and couple of times only waiting for the ball instead of keep moving on to pick the ball.

Tiote and Routledge also in good shape today, especially Routledge who has one perfect moment to score. Hughton will have a headache to make a choice between him and Barton when he’s return from suspension.

All in all, I’m quite satisfied for the result, we are keeping the track right and really can’t wait for January transfer window to open, I hope Mike Ashley willing to splash the cash in to bring some of CH potential targets to St. James’ Park.

Until then, and thanks for coming to this site. Howay the Lads!

After the great display of team spirit against Wigan Athletic on last Saturday, Jonas Gutierrez sees the Black-and-Whites team has no reason to get relegated again in next summer.

Jonas Believe Newcastle United is Destined to Stay in Premiership

Jonas told in the Chronicle site today that Newcastle United are strong and can stay mentally strong in each games.

“That will be important. We are all together in this fight and the players understand that,” He added more “It doesn’t matter if you are on the pitch, if you are part of the squad or the staff you have to understand that we are strong.”

“The Wigan’s game was a good result,” Jonas said as quoted from the Chronicle, “because after the previous two home games we haven’t felt that good regarding to the outcome.”

The next fixtures against West Ham away and Sunderland at home are being dubbed as six-pointer, and the lads are in the very good team spirit to make that happen. In between those two Premierships match is a trip down to South to face another London team in the FA Carling Cup 4th Round.

For great odd on sports gambling, www.betrescue.com has suggests that Newcastle United have fifty-fifty chance of getting another good result on their next Carling Cup fixture at Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal, just like when they shocked the whole Stamford Bridge stadium on their Carling Cup 3rd Round match.

We visit Stamford Bridge with everyone expecting us to get thrashed by the current Premierships leader, but we simply answer all those predictions with a good win.

The game itself starting as everyone wishes when Patrick Van Aanholt opened the scoring in six minutes on the clock but Nile Ranger, pay his terrible mistake who lead to Chelsea’s first goal, slide the ball home on 27 minutes.

Newcastle was far the better team after Ranger’s goal, and give some serious pressure on the Chelsea backline. Bruma foul on Shola Ameobi give us an opportunity to strike from an inviting angle at the edge of the area.

Toon set-piece expert Ryan Taylor, swing the ball into the far corner to put Newcastle ahead on 32 minutes. We almost make it 3-1 before half-time when Ameobi, who continuosly causing problems for Bruma, had a shot on goal, but Van Aanholt hook away off the line to save the London team.

We finally 3-1 up in just three minutes after the break and it was Shola Ameobi who gives the travelling Toon Army a reason to roar. Lovenkrands almost make it 4-1 and closed the contest if he not dragged his shot wide.

The London side has two goals from Nicolas Anelka including an 87th minute penalty to make them back level. But Jonas Gutierrez corner proven to be the match winning assist as the ball met by the head of Ameobi to notched his second and send Newcastle through.

No one really believed we could do it, not even Screacher (or even me -Ed), but it was great, and always an honour to be in amongst the Toon lads.

A great effort by everyone, the back four (before it became a back seven) did really well and need credit for stopping a very good Chelski side. Was especially impressed by Bassong and thought Enrique raised his game up a couple of notches to put in a sound performance. Beye is good.

Butt had, I thought, one of his best games closing them down in Midfield and never allowing them to play. And was ably well assisted by Guthrie.

Jonas was good and offered our best out to relieve the defense of the pressure in the second half, I was surprised when he was replaced. The front lads were always going to be up against it but I thought Owen was actually pretty poor today.

I would have taken Duff off for Nzogbia as contrary to the Match Day thread I was not that impressed with Duffs performance. Zogg did well when he came on.

The game started lively enough with us easily holding our own for the first 15 minutes, including a very good save from Shay diving to his right. Gradually Chelski started to push us back, and the doubts start to creep into your mind, but just before half time we had a good period and were very unlucky not to score when Spiderman (I hate that name) got around the defense and put in a great cross which I still don’t know how they kept it out.

Very happy to be going in at half time with a clean sheet.

We got our moneys worth in the second half with 90% of the action taking place in front of the Toon Army. Backs to the wall stuff for the whole of the second period, but the lads worked their knackers off, soundly backed by us. Heart stopping moment when the ref awarded the goal.

But there is a God…well a linesman with a flag anyway. It was especially nice to see the smug smiles wiped off the home support, and laughed at the electronic score board announcing “GOAL”.

One more heart stopping moment where from my position looking straight along the goal line, I was certain that Shay had kept the ball out, just needed the ref to be as sure. No it did not cross the line.

After that it was hard work, but we made it to the end and an exstatic Toon Army cheered on a Moral Victory. Proud of them all!

This is nothing to do with helping or not helping the other team to win the title this season, and I can accept the defeat as long as we have been playing well thoroughly the 90 minutes.

It was another wrong player in the wrong place when Keegan once again give Alan Smith a probably his last chance in Black-and-White. He has not giving anything for this team since his move from Manchester United in summer last year. His one and only goal for Newcastle was in the pre-season match but after that he’s just a waste of money.

In the first-half we actually give the visitors so much to think about if they’re trying to play us, and we have an early chance to lead when Nicky Butt plays in Michael Owen with a smart lob and stolen a march on John Terry, with just Cech to beat, Toon skipper can only direct his first time volley over the crossbar.

With only around half an hour, Michael Owen once again has been giving great opportunity to beat the deadlock. Ferreira slides in to try steal the ball from Martins, but the Nigerian poised to strike in, the ball runs for Viduka whose his effort being kept out by Cech.

The ball rolls free again and it was Michael Owen who has the last strike for Toon but see his kick denied by Terry who is back on the line to clear.

But, the real show has come in near the dying minutes. Martins starts to causing problems, his cross sees Beye slash-in an effort wide of Cech’s target. While minutes before that a generous applause from the Toon Army to our Lads for Newcastle move that involving at least 20 neat-passes but unlucky end with a Chelsea goal-kick after Barton tries to get the end of Martins’ throughball.

The good story suddenly come to an end with Alan Smith having replaced Mark Viduka in second-half. Disaster coming in. Starting with the second corner for the visitors, and some sharp Chelsea passing start to cause us some real problems.

They finally works for a chance to an opening for Ballack inside the penalty area, the German is just about to pull the trigger but Steven Taylor arrives in the nick of time to divert the ball behind for a corner.

On the second period, we are never get the chance to get back into the game as good as we did in the first half, thanks to Alan Smith! It was Chelsea who dominate the game and they get the goal they deserve when Malouda is taken out by Faye on the right and received the yellow card.

Drogba clips over the free-kick to the near post where the sloppy defending from United release Ballack unmarked and he guides his header beyond Steve Harper to give the visitors the lead.

Our one and only chance this half coming again for Owen whose ghosted in to beat the offside trap but again his finishing inches away from connecting to level the scores. The game was practically end when they have the second goal in 82 minutes from a slick move from Lampard spring Malouda clear to finish the ball low under Harper.
