Today we have the latest rumour reporting that we are interested to give a week-long trial for Bafana Bafana midfielder Lance Davids who is currently playing for Swedish club Djurgarden’s.
“Newcastle has sent an invitation to Lance and he will be on trial there all this week,” Djurgardens’ sports director Bosse Andersson told SPORT-Expressen.
“He was at Blackburn last week and they were happy with what they saw and now he will spend a week in Newcastle, that is our agreement.” added Andersson, “We have not received any offers yet though, these are only trial invitations.”
According to the Journal today, Allardyce will be hoping to persuade owner Mike Ashley to release the funds for a new left-back in January after ending Celestine Babayaro’s Newcastle United career.
It was also reported that Blackburn’s manager Mark Hughes are satisfied with the 22 years-old midfielder during his trial at Ewood Park.
If Big Sam also sees the good in this lad, we will have Mark Hughes’s Blackburn as the rival for his signature.
Lance Davids has been rated as the current high profile player in Bafana-Bafana squad, he is also included in South African squad for the upcoming African Nations Cup in Ghana next month.
Born in 11 April 1985, Davids has spent one season with Bundesliga outfit TSV 1860 München in Germany at the start of the 2006 season, before joining Swedish club Djurgarden.
Davids is naturally a midifelder but he can also played on the right wing as a defender.
